Streamlining Cataloging Workflows: Managing Electronic and Print Resources in Alma Five Years Post-Migration

Back to Schedule Check-inYou can join session 5 minutes before start time.

Session Information

Five years after migrating from Voyager to Alma, the University of Illinois Library has developed two distinct cataloging workflows: one for managing electronic resources catalog records and another for cleaning up print resources catalog records. These workflows utilize Alma's features, such as import profiles and normalization rules, enabling batch cataloging work and significantly improving workflow efficiency. However, not all cataloging tasks lend themselves to full automation-particularly print catalog records cleanup. Each approach has its own advantages and limitations. This presentation will highlight: •How electronic resources catalog management is conducted by one catalog manager, leveraging Alma's advanced features. •How print catalog records cleanup work, such as host bibliographic records, integrates manual processes with automated batch operations. Additionally, the presentation will explore the extent of changes in the management of both print and electronic resources cataloging records over the past five years since the migration and the last decade.
