Paperless Paging for Alma

Session Information

Three years ago, Yale University began using our Paperless Paging system to fulfill physical material requests for Yale Library patrons. By developing a system that processes requests online, Yale Library improved the efficiency of a legacy paper-based system and realized improvements in staff scheduling, ease of use, and reporting. This service was initially developed for Voyager. We have now released a virtually turnkey, open-source version that functions seamlessly with Alma's requests and tasks. Retrievers collect material and report on their progress using iPads and Barcode Scanners. Reports using the application's data help evaluate efficiency and improve workflow. Features: Enabling an enhanced ability to assign and filter by circulation desks, locations, and call numbers;providing the ability to assign tasks to specific retrievers; adding notes, tracking second searches, providing feedback; flagging issues with material, such as missing call numbers; enhancing reporting on productivity.
