This session explores the challenges of project management in academic libraries from the perspective of institutional frameworks by examining two case studies. At the University of California, Berkeley, an automated patron loading initiative required cross-divisional collaboration and necessitated ongoing iterative process adjustments. And at the University of Southern California, altering the display of MARC holdings information evolved into a complex undertaking with various stakeholders. Through these examples, we will examine how different institutional contexts influence consensus-building and effective project management strategies. We will also consider how these projects could have been approached in a more holistic way from the outset with different decision-making contexts.
