In the first half of 2025, Ex Libris went live with the first phase of Alma's new AI Metadata Assistant feature in the Metadata Editor. For this session, all of the contributors were active participants in Ex Libris's AI Metadata Assistant early access testing group, which began in August 2024 and finished with the official release of the Phase I Assistant. Come learn about the AI Metadata Assistant beta-testing as the contributors share their experiences with the feedback process, their early insights into Ex Libris's Assistant, and where they and their institutions see themselves in regard to implementing the new tool in their work. Lili Daie of Ex Libris will expand on the LLM prompting process, and how the group's feedback and suggestions were used to improve the resulting metadata quality. Attendees can then share their own first impressions of the Phase I Metadata Assistant in an open discussion.
