Ensuring a User-Friendly Catalog Experience: A Comprehensive Guide to a Primo VE Audit

Back to Schedule Check-inYou can join session 5 minutes before start time.

Session Information

At the start of 2024, the University of Alabama at Birmingham Libraries embarked on its first comprehensive audit of the Primo VE environment. This presentation will share our journey working with Clarivate to evaluate our catalog, along with the independent measures we implemented to optimize the search experience for our patrons. Key focus areas of our audit included evaluating discovery configurations, search scopes and criteria, filters and facets, catalog link-outs, menu links, record features (both brief and full), and widgets. To inform data-driven decisions, we analyzed analytics capturing all patron interactions with the catalog. Participants in this session will gain practical tips for conducting their own catalog audit, including how to evaluate the current environment, analyze catalog analytics, make data-informed decisions, and navigate the internal communications required for proposing catalog enhancements.
