Resource sharing is vital for academic collaboration and access to materials within the Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC). The "refiles" process-returning and reshelving items from the Shared Collections Facility (SCF)-is critical to maintaining the integrity of WRLC's 3.5 million-volume on-site collection. However, the traditional refile process relied on paper trails and lacked real-time validation, introducing inefficiencies and errors. This presentation outlines a project to reimagine the refile workflow using Alma's API to transform a labor-intensive process into a streamlined, one-click solution. By integrating real-time cross-checking, automated updates, and comprehensive tracking, the new system ensures accurate reshelving, faster turnaround times, and for the first time, resource-sharing metrics. This session will provide actionable strategies for other institutions to optimize resource-sharing processes through the creative use of Alma's API.
