Practical Applications | Annual Meeting International 3
Jun 20, 2025 12:00 Noon - 12:45 PM(America/New_York)
20250620T1200 20250620T1245 America/New_York Leveraging Alma for ebook EBA selection, purchased ebook management, and PO Line creation

At the end of an ebook Evidence-Based Acquisition Plan (EBA), a library selects ebooks for permanent ownership from a broad pool. We at Rutgers University Libraries want to choose the best ebooks for our university community, and we need to track their purchase in Alma. In this presentation, I will share how we combine vendor-provided Excel usage data with Alma Analytics data to identify our best EBA ebooks to purchase, considering usage, inclusion in course reserves (Leganto), and whether the ebook is perpetually owned through a previous purchase (as indicated by electronic inventory Access Type fields). Then I will explain how I manage our purchased EBA ebooks by moving them into dedicated electronic collections and creating technical PO Lines using an EOD import profile. This presentation will be useful to libraries that would like to leverage Alma's capabilities outside of Rialto to improve EBA selection and purchase management.
