Obviously, every hiring situation is a little different and each hire will need different training and information, but come join me to explore some ways to be prepared for this impactful change. I myself was hired after 20 mumble years in public libraries to be the systems librarian for a large public university library system. In my case neither I nor they knew what I didn't know and needed to know. It's very easy to hire someone and say "here are the links for the vendor training information, good luck" but it's probably never the best approach. Let's strategize!
